How Wise's Formula was created
Dr. Francoise Farron
Dr. Francoise had already developed the formula for Wise, but was too busy as a Harvard Scientist to bring it to market…until her best friend’s daughter died from a blood clot caused by her birth control…she was 28.
Dr. Francoise Farron, a PhD from NYU who spent her career as a cell researcher at Harvard used to make herself a homemade wash that she would use before intimacy. One day she got interrupted in the shower by a phone call and then made love. She was met by an interesting surprise…the semen fell out in a clump. Fascinated, Francoise decided to experiment and see if it would happen again. Over and over it happened, and it occurred to Francoise that perhaps her wash had contraceptive properties. She sent her soap to be lab analyzed and it was shown to immobilize 100% of the sperm. Being the avid scientist that she was she decided to run a case study in which none of the couples followed became pregnant while using her formula.
She was too busy at the time to bring her invention to market, until tragedy struck and her best friend’s daughter suffered the fate that so many face today, dying from a blood clot caused by her birth control.
Dr. Francoise knew women deserved better and she knew she held the answer in her hands. She got her formula patented and began Smart Women’s Choice. Tens of thousands of women were served, the only known side effect being irritation in less than 2% of her users.
Francoise meets Lauren and the Rest is History
A Midwife, Her Chemist Love, and Francoise Team up
Lauren Tagansky Love, the Founder and Director of Wise Women’s Choice was a birth keeper in Costa Rica serving women in the homebirth and fertility space. After years of struggles with hormonal birth control, and then resorting to a fertility awareness practice she knew there had to be a better way. Fertility awareness + condoms could not be the only resource women have had forever… she spent years studying and experimenting with natural birth control methods and created a course empowering women to take care of their fertility naturally. She began leading women’s circles and teaching communities.
One day along this path she discovered the cream. She reached out to Francoise immediately to connect with this amazing woman and get cream for herself and for her community. Francoise was impressed with Lauren’s teachings…she was the first to explain to her that women could only become pregnant around 6 days a month and how we can understand our fertility. They began to work together as Lauren shared the cream for years in Costa Rica with great success, no pregnancies, and happy couples.
After years of their partnership Lauren reached out one day to get more cream. Francoise told her that she could have more but she’d have to make it herself. Francoise, well into her 90’s at the time had partnered with a younger woman to run Smart Women’s Choice and was having legal troubles with her. There was a cease and desist and lawsuit underway, and on top of that, the FDA was after them…this amazing resource was in danger of being buried for good.
Lauren flew to San Diego to meet with Francoise where she, at 99 years old, passed the formula, along with permission to rebrand and produce the cream in Costa Rica to Lauren.
As Divine providence would have it, Lauren’s beloved partner Roey just happened to be a brilliant chemist with a passion for natural medicines. They teamed up to bring Wise to the World. They were able to have the cream approved by the Costa Rican Ministry of Health for Sale in Pharmacies.
Later Smart Women’s Choice was shut down by the FDA for selling an “unapproved drug” after serving tens of thousands of women with reported efficacy rates of 99.8% and no harmful side effects to date. Together Roey and Lauren carry on the precious formula for the birth control without side effects and the legacy of Dr. Francoise.
They began serving an international clientele and distributing the cream in shops, pharmacies, and doctor’s offices in Costa Rica.
